Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
Please join the Harriton Art Department in congratulating the following students for receiving recognition from the PA Scholastic Art Awards for their outstanding artwork. “Founded in 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation's longest-running, most prestigious educational initiative supporting student achievement in the visual arts. The program has an impressive legacy of being the first to acknowledge creative talent and is today's largest source of scholarships for creative teens.” This year, a record 330,000 artworks were submitted for regional judging, increasing the competitiveness of the contest by over 10,000 applicants from last year. Scholastic Art recognition is a huge honor for our awardees and highlights the exceptional talent of our students.
In addition to receiving a regional gold key award, senior Amanda Glazer’s metal necklace, “Hinged, Hollow form Metal Cipher Disk” (image attached), also won a National Scholastic Art Silver Key award. This is an extremely high achievement that recognizes her artwork for demonstrating “high honors on the national level,” and celebrates it as one of the best student artworks in the country!
