A DAY IN LOVE PARK

BY SAM EADDY AND RACHEL BROWN

On a Saturday a few weeks before Valentine’s Day, Sam and I took the train into Jefferson Station to get some exotic food from Reading Terminal and go to Dilworth Park to hang out by the Love Statue.  Usually the statue is in JFK Plaza, but it was moved to Dilworth Park for the winter because of construction by JFK. Dilworth Park is awesome in the winter with Rothman’s Skating Rink and a warm fireplace (that isn’t actually that warm). There are also pretty Christmas lights and an overpriced café. We went to the park right after The March Against President Donald Trump’s Immigration Ban and, to us, the statue served as a reminder to always choose love. We saw people of all walks of life posing and hugging loved ones against Philly’s famous monument; the atmosphere was great. We risked appearing like stalkers to take this time-lapse of people posing in front of the statue. I wish it was longer but my phone had no storage and my hands were really tired. Enjoy, Zenith!
