I have been interested in art for as long as I can remember, although I did refuse to color inside the lines in preschool (and I still do!). I think my refusal to color in the lines really speaks to my approach to art, which is untraditional. I can't paint or draw but I use fabric as my media of choice. There is an ongoing debate about whether or not fashion can be considered an art, and in my mind, it is. I use fabric to express my personal ideas and views on the world. I often draw upon current events for my inspiration and there is always a story behind every piece that I make. While fabric is the main media I work in, I also do mixed media work. When doing my mixed media work, I look for a medium that will really be an extension of the idea that I am trying to portray. My art is really an expression of myself and gives the viewer a peek into my mind.
