SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: LIZA COHEN

INTERVIEWER: MILA LACEY

Enjoy this interview with graduating senior Liza Cohen, art-lover, and one of the founders of Zenith!

What was your favorite part of high school?

Liza: Well, I should start by saying I never thought I liked high school, until senior year. The great thing about senior year is that it's the beginning of the end, so everyone is finally over the drama and starts to be semi-nice to each other. I had a tough time with my grade over the past 4, or 12 really, years, and I've always felt like I wanted to escape Harriton High School and this area. Now that that time is finally here, I feel really happy and excited for what's to come. So senior year was probably my favorite part of high school, but HTC is what really got me through high school. The past four years would have been nearly impossible without the people I met in that company.

What did you wish you did during high school, that you never had a chance to do?

Liza: I can honestly say I'm leaving with almost no regrets. I think I wish I became more involved with the environmental club than I was because I'm really passionate about the environment. But otherwise, I think I did everything I wanted to do. I'm not leaving with any "what ifs?"

What is your favorite outfit?

Liza: My favorite outfit is jean shorts and a loose tank top with vans because it is my most comfortable outfit. I'm all about wearing what's comfortable.

Who's style (could be anyone) do you like the most and wish you could pull off?

Liza: I think Vanessa Hudgens is a style icon. She basically can rock any look with ease. I wish I could pull off the bohemian look as she can.

What is your favorite method of exercise?

I love yoga!!! I'm really trying to get certified next year so that I can become an instructor. But I also love just plugging in my headphones, putting on my gym jams playlist super loud and going to the gym. Any method of exercise really is a stress reliever for me.

What is your favorite place shop?

Liza: My favorite place to shop is a store called Reformation. Their motto is, "Being naked is the #1 most sustainable option. Reformation is #2." They create sustainable fashion, and they ship it in sustainable packaging. But it's honestly very expensive, so it's really just my favorite website to surf and add things to my cart. I also love Whole Foods because I love food and they make it easy to buy in bulk and eat healthily.

What is your favorite place in the world?

Liza: My favorite place in the world, as of now, is Venice Beach, CA. There is a different energy in the people there, and the sun is almost always shining.

 What is your favorite restaurant?

Liza: My favorite restaurant is Sugarfish. It is a restaurant that people have to trust the chef with whatever he's making, which I think is a really cool concept. I also LOVE sushi, and this is the freshest sushi I have ever had. They have a location in New York, so I'm very excited to eat there next year.

What is your favorite music artist?

Liza: I don't have one favorite musician, but some of my favorites are Chance the Rapper, Drake, Rex Orange County, Frank Ocean, James Taylor, Tyler the Creator, Russ, Jhene Aiko, Aminé, John Mayer, Anderson.Paak, J.Cole, SZA, Kendrick Lamar, The Growlers, and so many more. I love music in general, so it's really hard for me just to pick one.

What has being a founding mother in Zenith taught you?

Liza: Being a founding mother of Zenith taught me that everyone has a creative side and that creativity comes in many forms. It also taught me that it's so important to have a creative outlet, especially as a teenager. High Schoolers go through so much on a daily basis, and having somewhere to express myself in overwhelming times was imperative.

How would you say you live your life?

I live my life like a movie; everything that happens is part of the bigger story that is yet to unfold.

Ending Note

Liza: I am so excited for the new editors of Zenith, and I can't wait to see how the website grows.
