The Best Super Bowl Commercials
By Jenna Pearlstein
After years of defeat, the Philadelphia Eagles have secured their first Super Bowl Championship. Yay! As exciting as the game was, my previously anti-football-minded self looked forward to the intermittent sprinkling of advertisements: the very basis of my initial Super Bowl Sunday interest! As the commercial breaks passed one by one, I wasn’t thrilled. Why would you have Morgan Freeman but without Morgan Freeman’s voice! They were hardly living up to the caliber I had expected (see Betty White Snickers circa 2010 or Doritos Time Machine from 2014!). Regardless there were several diamonds in the rough that made me both chuckle and shed a proverbial tear in the sense that I did not actually cry because-hello-public!
So (IMO) the best Super Bowl Commercials from Super Bowl LII in no particular order because I am indecisive:
1) Avocados From Mexico
2) Budweiser, “Stand by You”
3) Tide, “It’s a Tide Ad”
4) Amazon Alexa, “Alexa Loses her Voice”
6) Bud Light (not the conclusion to the epic saga I wanted but it still deserves a spot on the list, sigh)
7) Toyota, One Team
8) Winter Olympics (Purely because I am obsessed with The Greatest Showman)
In conclusion, there were some good ones, but we want them all to be good! With the exorbitant price of 5 million dollars for 30 seconds, I should be seeing some quality content!!
