Through a Car Window
By Emma Deutsch
This series is inspired by long drives. Car rides, to me are incredibly relaxing and motivational, even though I am often mildly distracted by the fear of crashing (drive safe, folks!). When I am speeding through cities and countrysides, I see commonplace gas stations, rest stops, and fast food restaurants, but I always seem to forget that there are other people, with their own lives in all these places. Every car ride causes drivers to see and interact with hundreds of other people; pedestrians, and other drivers. My challenge in this project was to capture a range of “driving sights,” be they frequently noticed, ignored, or unique to my specific car-ride experience. All photos were taken out the window of a car.
