50 Shades of a Baller
By Maidah Khan
"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women are merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts."
-William Shakespeare
Musa Khan is a character with an old soul captured in a ten year old’s body, with a youthful side as an accessory. Musa is a mixture of Hollywood and Bollywood and has an inner desire for dressing up. He dresses up for school like he is attending a business meeting at a fortune 500 company. Fashion is embedded in his soul.
Not to throw shade on his love for fashion; he has a deep passion for basketball. He can play endless hours on the court. He says, “Basketball is a stress reliever, medicine, adrenaline rush, and eternal happiness.” On the court, he gears up like a true NBA player; like professional ballers, who are on the court in their zone ready to conquer. In post game interviews, they express themselves through their fashion choices.
Musa symbolizes the grit and confidence it takes to be a part of this association. He is a hardworking young boy who acts, balls hard, and dresses to impress. We all are playing our role in this world, but not everyone is devoting 100%. Musa devotes 101% and is striving for greatness one day at a time.
