A Modern Song

The granite-winged manta ray 

of pleasure is falling---

dash of the coves’

steadfast shore! 

Feverishly

his trembled strokes failing 

he batters broken in the romping 

corals’ spite. 

There is no begging 

to his splitting delight

of their torture

free or forgotten.
