Featured Artist: Ashley Young

Ashley is a junior at Harriton who is a dedicated member of the HTC sound department, and also a talented photographer and metal artist. We chose her to be our featured artist for this launch due to her unique style and artistic process. We will be showing her most recent metal artwork. 

Ashley gave this statement on this piece of work:

"“Collier Des Fleurs”

My artwork is an armor-like statement necklace comprised of roses. Inspired by the victorian era, I imitated a high collar with the whole rest of the piece sitting upon the shoulders. Furthermore, inspired by artist, Hang Lee, I’ve positioned each rose asymmetrically for a uniquely shaped necklace. This armor-like piece is to represent the strength of women and to represent feminism as a whole. I hope this representation of female strength empowers and inspires viewers all around.
