Fitness Youtubers Ranked
By Carmen Miskel
Quarantine changed a lot about our everyday lives. With gyms and fitness classes being basically covid breeding grounds, online workouts have risen in popularity. I’ll admit, I hopped on the trend, as well. And while the world is opening back up, I think online workouts are going to remain in my everyday routine. Not only are they easy to follow and super accessible, but they’re free! They are also great for busy schedules, because they aren’t live. You can watch them whenever, wherever.
Here, I’ve ranked 8 of the FREE online workout channels on youtube that I’ve tried in the past year, with 8 being my least favorite, and 1 being my most favorite. Keep in mind that this is all my opinion, so I recommend that you try some of them yourself!
8. Chloe Ting
This woman is the EPITOME of quarantine workouts. Practically everyone I know has tried Chloe Ting’s workouts. Honestly, I’m not a fan. The moves are repetitive, the music is kind of annoying, and I don’t love the idea of four 10 minute workouts in a row. However, with over 20 million subscribers on youtube, she must be doing something right.
RATING: 4/10
7. Blogilates
I like Blogilates as a person. She is super bubbly and talkative, but I don’t find her workouts the most challenging. She tends to focus on the physical goals of working out (toning, losing weight, etc.), which I’m not super into, because it gets frustrating when I don’t make instant progress.
She is very pilates-forward, so if that is what you are looking for, you might want to still check her out.
RATING: 5/10
6. Pamela Reif
Another very popular fitness youtuber from quarantine. Her ab workouts are tough- they definitely burn! However, they are super short. She also doesn’t talk?? At all?? I’ve never heard her utter a single word. She might speak another language, but I would never know!! Kind of off putting.
RATING: 6/10
5. Yoga With Adriene
I have never attempted yoga seriously before trying her videos. I have come to the consensus that I am not very good at it, but I respect it. Her classes are super relaxing, and they are great for people who are new to the world of yoga.
RATING: 6/10
4. Madfit
I like this lady. She does a lot of ab workouts that are comparable to Pamela Reif, but she also does dance video workouts. While short, they’re very entertaining. It reminds me of Just Dance, but without the bright colors and wii remote. I thought she was vegan, but apparently not.
RATING: 7/10
3. Fitness Blender
Yes, I am fully aware that this is the channel that gym teachers would play in middle school. HOWEVER do not let that inhibit you from trying this channel on your own!
RATING: 7.5/10
2. POPSUGAR fitness
POPSUGAR fitness is great. The classes vary in intensity, style, and even the teachers are different class to class. They have adjustments for move in case you can’t do something, or want to take it easy. It makes it very inclusive, so two people with varying levels of skill can take the same workout.
RATING: 8/10
1. Sydney Cummings
This woman is my favorite!! She is so inspiring and empowering and strong. Sydney is a former D1 athlete, so she knows her stuff. She uploads every day, and her videos aren’t solely focused on burning the most amount of calories humanly possible. She talks about feeling good, getting strong, and gaining self-confidence. I’ve grown so much because of her, and her channel is probably one of the best things I’ve discovered because of quarantine.
One disclaimer is that you do need equipment. A lot of the classes need weights ranging from light to heavy.
