HTC’s Peter Pan

This fall the Harriton Theater Company did their production of Peter Pan, which is a highlight into all of the creative things that go on in the background from stage crew to costumes. The first thing that people see during a play are the costumes, the actors, and the set which is art itself. This set design took sketch after sketch, and then talented people to paint, do carpentry, and more. It also is important to have costumes compliment the set as well- which is something people don’t realize is taken into account.

These costumes took a lot of effort with trial and error. Fashion is another very big part of theater. Our costumes department is one of the most artistic departments alongside props.

The people in these departments are in charge of making/designing clothes and coming up with everything you see an actor use. Whether it’s something that was previously laying around, or made specifically for the show, we use artistic abilities for every single performance.  Though, art doesn’t only come in the form of something you create to just sit there though.

The actors and photographers that were involved in HTC’s Peter Pan are artists themselves. It takes a lot of talent and practice to put on a show which everyone in HTC tries their best to do. As well as the people that are constant members of HTC, even the people that take part in one thing (shoutout to Andrew Dieu for the photos) are artists themselves. Theater in every way shape and form is art, despite whether some people consider it traditional or not.
