Self Introduction
Rose has taken art classes since her Freshman year. She hopes to continue art in college with a minor in visual arts. She loves making linocuts and printmaking (mainly because of the ASMR aspect). Rose is one of our three heads in Zenith. She enjoys meeting students in the art community during creative sessions and selling student designs with Zenith's Marketplace. In her free time, she writes music, does math homework, and goes out with friends.

Interview
What is your favorite medium to create with?
I like printmaking with linocuts and oil painting. I carve stamps when my reference images are full of structured lines. I paint with fewer symbols, allowing me to use many colors.
What other art styles are you interested in?
I like creating art inspired by children's books with a touch of fantasy. I also enjoy looking at surrealist art, but I do not make art in that style.
From where do you derive inspiration from?
I get inspiration from other art students in my class. I love walking around our AP Art room and seeing what others are working on. I am also inspired by nature and often infuse different types of plants in my work. Strong emotions of anger, sadness, or happiness can also spark artistic ideas for me.
What was your thematic exploration (sustained investigation) for AP Art and Design? What common themes do you use in your work?
My AP sustained investigation theme explored how we can process and depict our dreams and nightmares. I took inspiration from my great-grandmother's dream books. She would transcribe my descriptions of my old dreams into these books, and I would illustrate them. This process encouraged my creativity and imagination.
How do you plan to continue your art and incorporate it into your life in the future?
In college, I hope to minor in visual arts. I also want to incorporate a design aspect into my future job, which is highly likely as I am considering pursuing engineering. If art does not make it into my career, I will work on different pieces during my free time.
What advice do you have for students who want to be involved in the Arts but are unsure if they can fit them into their schedules?
My first advice would be to fit art into your schedule! Some students might feel pressured to take a more academic course to get into a specific college, but having different passions, such as art, also looks good on your transcript. If an art class can not fit into your school schedule, you should join Zenith! We have creative sessions every Thursday, where you can make art in different mediums and meet a group of friends who love being creative.
What is your taste in music? What do you listen to while making art?
I like listening to super loud music while I create art. Some of my favorite albums are Load by Metallica and Ten by Pearl Jam, and I like anything by Måneskin.
