Out of the Black and Into the Blue

The scorning sun burns concrete from the ground,
Watching the innocent come together.
And the wheel turns.
Life moves on,
Under the passing sheet of molten anger.
Hatred boils from the depths of
Hades’s charcoaled heart,
Anger flames through the streets,
Carrying the beat of his thump, thump, thump.
The throb of his maddening drum.
Sickening violence erupts from a belly ache,
Showering the blue in grey.
But the sun’s axis might roll over,
Radiating warmth
Into the lie.
Because justice, reform,
They are built on compassion,
Not the sizzling fry.
Only love can end the oppressive
Beat of the
Overwhelming heat.
