Self Introduction

I don't have much to say about myself except that I am proud of what I have accomplished in the little time I have had. As an artist, I am looking forward to seeing what I can do now that I have more confirmation that this is something that I love to do, whether it's school-related or not.

Art Focused Questions

What other art styles are you interested in?

I think I would be interested in videography.

Who are your favorite visual artists? Why?

I love all artists because I think everyone is unique in their own way. I love seeing how different people who do the same thing are.

From where do you derive inspiration? How does that affect your artwork?

I derive inspiration from everyone and anything. My number 1 inspiration spot is Pinterest because they have endless photography ideas, and I always feel the urge to try and replicate them all. Of course, I am always inspired by my favorite film photo teacher, Mrs. Witman, because she is always encouraging me to do something beyond what I would even think about doing. It helps me learn about myself in and outside of photography. I have been inspired by Autumn Gordon's astonishing hair script, which talks about different aspects of hair that encouraged my ideas.

What is your sustained investigation, common thread, or overall thematic exploration?

For my Sustained Investigation (SI), I have had a roller coaster of ideas, but all of those ideas have boiled down to African American hair. I wanted to show the beauty of Black hair from different people in the Harriton community.

How do you see yourself through your art? Do you see yourself?

I see a lot of growth in my art, especially looking back from my freshman year up until my senior year.

How do you plan to continue your art and incorporate it into your life in the future?

Extending my journey of photography into college, I plan on minoring in photography. If not, I will definitely be joining any clubs or organizations that revolve around photography. I also plan on making it a side hustle since college is the place a lot of students take pictures.

What advice do you have for students who want to be involved artistically, but are unsure if they can fit it into their schedules in and out of  school?

Do not let the stress of other classes pressure you to opt out of something you could potentially love. My biggest regret is not being involved in as many art related activities until my senior year because I thought I would not be able to achieve everything.
