A Contrast of Character

I came across editorial fashion photography and was inspired by their conceptual nature. I liked how they contrasted their subjects' clothing with the environment or abnormal poses. I was mainly inspired by Marina Williams and her use of simple colored background that complimented the color palette of the models garments. I liked the idea of having two subjects wearing different color clothing, so I interpreted it in my own way by having them wear different fashion aesthetics instead. The background is rather simple and dark with a blue wash so that the focus is on the two girls and aesthetic. I gave the first image a cooler tone to indicate the dominance of the cold attitude within the scene; however, the warmth from the flower girl helps balance the coolness and showcases the push back that is recognized in the second picture. I purposely saturated my colors and pushed my values of light and darkness so that they helped communicate the concept that I was going for and showcase the characters I created for my models across both images.
