Living Lights

Living Lights is a self portrait hidden inside two reflective candles. The painting captures the warm, cozy feeling of Danish hygge. Candles, which are an essential aspect of hygge, are often referred to as ‘levende lys’, translated to ‘living lights’ in English. I created this piece to represent the comfort and happiness of hygge, and how I try to reflect that in my life. Hygge and happiness is created by humans, portrayed by my reflection.
